BGC Durham is pleased to offer a variety of programs designed specifically for the diverse needs of youth ages 12 – 21. With focuses ranging from academic help, leadership programs, social opportunities and sports, we have a program to help every young person experience new opportunities.

Beyond our regular programs, we’re proud of the initiatives by our Youth Services department.

1. Ball at the Centre

Description

Join us on the court three days a week to shoot some hoops with other youth. This is a great opportunity to get active while making some new connections in a fun, supportive environment. This program is suitable for youth ages 13 – 18.

2. Teen Zone

Description

Youth are invited to experience our brand new Teen Zone at our Eastview Unit! With three areas to choose from — Chill Zone, Games Zone and Sports Zone — there is fun for every teen to discover!

Get active in a wide range of athletics in Sports Zone! Participants (highschool youth) will join us in the gym for a variety of sports, including basketball, Spikeball, Kan Jam and more!

Description

Raise the Grade is now Learn On – a dynamic initiative that goes beyond academics to foster holistic development for youth.

Learn On at Eastview Unit’s Tech Center:

Operating Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 5 pm to 8. This program is designed to empower high school youth in their educational journey. From homework help to skill-building workshops, we provide a supportive environment to help youth excel in their studies. Learn On also offers resources for post-secondary education, resume writing, life skills, emotional well-being support, and more. Attendees have access to mentors, a fully-equipped computer lab, technology resources, daily snacks, and special events. The program is drop-in based, allowing flexibility for youth grades 9 and up, to attend any day between 5 pm and 8 pm, with no program fee.

(NEW!) Learn On at Northview Unit

Here, Learn On takes on a broader scope, focusing not only on academic growth but also on life skills, learning experiences, and teamwork both on and off the court. From leadership activities to collaborative projects, Northview’s program is designed to empower youth in various aspect of their lives.

Dinner is provided at 5:30 pm. Throughout the program, there will be exciting giveaways. Join us every Wednesday starting  from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Open to youth ages 13-18.
