BGC Durham is pleased to offer a variety of programs designed specifically for the diverse needs of youth ages 12 – 21. With focuses ranging from academic help, leadership programs, social opportunities and sports, we have a program to help every young person experience new opportunities.

1. Ball at the Centre

Description

Join us on the court three days a week to shoot some hoops with other youth. This is a great opportunity to get active while making some new connections in a fun, supportive environment. This program is suitable for youth ages 13 – 18.

Description

Learn On at Eastview Unit’s Tech Center:

Operating Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 pm to 8 pm at Eastview and Wednesdays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Northview. This program is designed to empower high school youth in their educational journey. From homework help to skill-building workshops, we provide a supportive environment to help youth excel in their studies. Learn On also offers resources for post-secondary education, resume writing, life skills, emotional well-being support, and more. Attendees have access to mentors, a fully-equipped computer lab, technology resources, daily snacks, and special events. The program is drop-in based, allowing flexibility for youth 13-21, with no program fee.

Description

Join us for a three-part coding workshop series designed specifically for Black girls in Grades 6–10.  

This partnership between the Boys and Girls Club and Ontario Tech’s Engineering Outreach offers participants the opportunity to explore a range of coding concepts, from foundational skills to creating their own games using Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning.  

Through workshops led by Black and female-identifying instructors, students will see themselves represented in tech while building confidence, creativity, and technical skills.

Description

Calling all youth ages 14–17! Join this free, interactive program to learn practical money skills through hands-on activities and real-life examples.

Participants will explore budgeting, saving, credit, and the impact of social media on spending, while learning how to spot online risks. By the end, youth will have the tools to build healthy money habits and create their own personal money plan.
