Lead Up Project

Boys and Girls Club of Durham (BGCD) is excited to announce the launch of a new program that aims to prepare youth (12-18) for their first position in the work force.

Lead Up

Youth will be responsible for building, facilitating, and executing a community service project of their own design. They will also have opportunities to job shadow at various BGCD sites, participate in workshops, and educate and empower other youth in their community.

At the end of the program youth will come away with:

  • 120 hours of community service experience
  • certificate of completion
  • valuable employability, leadership, and problem solving skills
  • confidence needed to take their first steps out in to the work force

The Lead Up Project runs from October 2020 through April 2021.

Any youth who wish to participate in this program should be able to commit to a weekly 1.5 hour zoom meeting and up to 3.5 additional hours of their own time for project activities.

Any interested youth can sign up for one of the following online information sessions by e-mailing cgenereux@bgcdurham.com:

Tuesday, October 13th at 5pm

Wednesday, October 14th at 7pm
